FK RSU/JFS continues to fight for place in top three at end of the season

The 2026 season has brought both significant changes off the field and fierce battles on it for FK RSU/JFS. One of the most important new developments this season is the partnership with Jūrmala Football School (JFS), which allows the team to involve promising young footballers and helps them take the next step from youth to adult football. 

In cooperation with FK RSU/JFS, Sloka Stadium has become the team’s home ground, where it plays its home matches. The stadium offers one of the best natural grass football pitches in Latvia, as well as infrastructure that helps make home matches enjoyable events not only for the players but also for fans and supporters.

‘We always have fun, and this season is no exception. We are very happy with our cooperation with JFS. It allows us to involve promising young players in the adult team and proudly call Sloka Stadium our home,’ says Juris Zālītis, RSU football marketing and communications specialist.

The season has also been eventful on the pitch. Over several seasons, the team has built a stable core of players and developed a strong team spirit. However, this season has been affected by injuries and other unforeseen challenges.

FK RSU/JFS is currently fourth in the standings, with ten wins, one draw and seven losses from 18 matches. The team has remained near the top of the table throughout the season and has beaten some of the strongest teams in the competition, although valuable points have also been dropped against teams lower in the standings.

‘As in previous years, we entered the season as one of the favourites and have spent much of it near the top of the table. We have beaten the strongest teams in the competition, but sometimes we stumble against teams lower in the standings. We are still fighting for a place in the top three,’ says Zālītis.

For the team, results on the pitch are not the only priority. FK RSU/JFS is also working to make its home matches exciting events for supporters and to create an enjoyable atmosphere around the team.

The fight for a top-three finish continues on Sunday, 30 August, when FK RSU/JFS plays its final home match of the summer at Sloka Stadium. Kick-off is at 13:00.
